Carly Simon is giving fans a new way to explore her life and music. In an announcement tied to her latest creative projects, the singer revealed that her personal archives will open to the public this fall after nine years of preparation.
The collection will offer a deeper look at Simon’s career through material that has largely remained private. Plans for the archive include previously unseen photographs and films, unreleased recordings, unfinished songs, handwritten lyric sheets, artwork and notebooks. The project is designed to let fans explore different parts of her creative history in a more personal setting.
The archive arrives as Simon releases Comes in Waves, her first album of original songs since 2008’s This Kind of Love. Much of the 12-track record was written and recorded at her home on Martha’s Vineyard.
Her children, Ben Taylor and Sally Taylor, also contributed to the new album. Together, the album and archive bring new material and decades of preserved memories into public view.
